Born in Santa Monica, California, Robert Krogle spent 48 years in the Southland, before he, his wife April and their daughter Brooke moved to Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho in 1992, where he resides today.

In his childhood, showing early signs of creative ability, his parents signed Robert up for correspondence courses in art and encouraged him with plenty of “hands on” materials. After High School, he applied to Chouinard Art Institute of Los Angeles where he began his formal art education but in his third year, was called to active duty by the California National Guard. He spent five and half months in Vietnam and was awarded the bronze star and purple heart for his service. Upon returning to civilian life, Robert completed four years of intensive training at Chouinard, with a focus on illustration and commercial art.

A few months after graduating, he landed a job at Rosenfeld, Palombi and Dilts, an Art Studio in downtown Los Angeles. Later, as a free-lance illustrator, he worked for such prestigious companies such as MicroSoft, Continental Airlines and Mattel Toys. He did many paintings for the movie, theme park and recording industries and received awards as a result, from the New York and Los Angeles Societies of Illustrators. He has lectured and been a guest instructor at many California Art Schools and continues to do workshops in Washington and Idaho as an Oil Painter.

Within a very few years of moving to Coeur d’ Alene, Robert met and continues to paint with, a fine group of oil painters, the result being a predictable transition from commercial art to fine art. Today, he enjoys great respect from his fellow artists, having won numerous fine art awards and invitations to some of the finest Galleries, Invitational Shows and Auctions across the country. Robert’s paintings have been selected for Regional and National Shows by the Oil Painters of America and now, probably his greatest achievement, selected to have his first Museum Show at the John Clymer Museum in Ellensburg.
